Colorado Fall Checklist

Fall Checklist ✔️

SCHEDULE SPRINKLER BLOWOUTS 💦
This is a really *important* item on the list! If irrigation lines and sprinkler systems aren’t blown-out properly and fully before the temps get down below freezing, lines will expand and burst / crack and can be a major mess.

DISCONNECT HOSES FROM HOSE BIBS 🍂
Similar to the above item, if water is left in the hose and the hose is still attached to the hose bib when the temps go below freezing, the supply line can burst and flood your home when the water melts.

PLANT OR TRIM TREES AND SHRUBS 🌳
‘Tis the season for all things planting and trimming in the tree and shrub world! Planting and other maintenance when the weather starts cooling off is GREAT for the health of the plant and Spring growth!

PLANT BULBS 🌷
Many bulbs need to be planted in the Fall so they have the entire Winter to cool. These long cool periods spark the biochemical process that causes them to flower and allow them time to root! Pretty cool, huh? Flowers in bulb form are typically the first to emerge in the Spring – daffodils, crocuses, irises, etc.

PLAN & EXECUTE HARDSCAPING PROJECTS 🔨
Everything is more fun to build when the temps are cooler! Fall is a great time to get yard / patio projects completed. The ground is hardy and materials are in season, ready to be transformed into patios, fire pits (a Colorado fave!), pergolas, retaining walls, and more.

THINK ABOUT SEASONAL / HOLIDAY OUTDOOR DECOR ✨️
Lights to set the vibe, Fall decor (pumpkins, mums, pansies, etc), and holiday decor (fresh greenery, festive lights, etc) all require a bit of planning! Find some inspo online or at your local shop and create an inviting space for you and your neighbors to enjoy.

If you’re local to the Denver area and interested in any of these checklist items as a service, send us an email or give us a call! The Garden Fairies are always itching to get their hands on beautifying or helping out.
