Sunflowers

Sunflowers are an end-of-Summer staple in yards and highway shoulders all over Colorado and beyond, their bold blooms catching the sun’s rays and stalks growing tall. 🌻

There are many varieties (over 70!), but we wanted to share a few fun facts about sunflowers in general. They are a hardy plant that grows easily and often reseeds itself, so if you’ve planted them this year, look for them sprouting up mid-Summer next year! Their young greens are extremely nutritious, too, and are a popular addition to salads and
sammies.

Do you have a favorite variety of sunflower?

Ours might have to be “Sungold”, which is a unique fuzzy-looking variety that is the traditional bright yellow hue.
